What we do
Together Will and I create visibility for the Queer BIPOC community and dismantle gender and societal norms. By reaffirming who Will is, and doing so loudly and proudly, we not only show people his authentic self but also encourage others to embark on their journey of truth.
why we do it
By opposing the status quo we make people of minority groups feel seen and safe. Additionally, we create space for other black creatives to utilize their own platforms, voices, and skills to create the future they desire as opposed to waiting for the opportunities and approval of others.
REBIRTH
“Rebirth” was born to reinvent us, redefine our blackness, and reconnect with our purpose. We define, who we are, and our purpose. Life is a journey, and our purpose is the compass that helps us stay the course, and if you veer off the path don’t be discouraged, bounce back, replot and refocus. This is the Rebirth of Will.

As we close out #pride month, earlier this month I was asked to shoot for @the0verthinkers for the Pride Issue, which was all about my artistic self expression, and how I envision myself for the future.
Through self-reflection I realized a lot of my characteristics are deeply tied to rich history that has surrounded me for majority of my life. The city of New Orleans for many is city of light, resilience, and a whole lot of love. ❤️ We have seen hell and high waters (literally) but through it all we remained grounded.
These images that you see are not only a tribute to our unique culture, but an effort highlight the importance of protecting it. As they saying goes, “Everything You Love About New Orleans Is Because of Black People.”

Let’s take a journey. Hurricane Katrina for some across the nation may feel like a distant memory, but for the people of New Orleans it’s something we will never forget.
The custom jacket by @thearthstlr futures the eye of the storm heading over Louisiana, close to the heart because we can never forget.

Let's talk about the details, swipe through for a closer look into the individuals who served as inspiration.
The Orleans and Claboirne location for the shoot was selected not only for the handpainted columns, but the connection to the community it surrounds. An epicenter for music, celebration, and African-American entrepreneurship. Also well-known gather spot for second lines, parades, and more.
The headpiece and beaded necklace were to pay tribute to my late cousin Keelian Boyd, Sr also known as "Big Chief Dump" if you knew him you knew he was all about celebrating the life and legacy of New Orleans, and its people.
The design for the jacket that @thearthustlr was inspired by a piece that he helped @worldofjanae craft by teaching imparting his knowledge and artistry of bedwork.

REINVENTION: Reimagining yourself and starting a new. The past few months I was left uninspired and felt pressured to create content to keep up with everything/everyone around me.
I felt uninspired , and wanted to completely delete everything and move on. It took me a while to realize it but I now understand that creating is passion, and to stop would be running away from the thing I’m always called to do, express myself.
I also know that our blackness has power, we are the culture, we make it move and we are royalty. So these photos are tribute to that, and a celebration of the things we have coming to us.
Shout to my friends for pushing me to keep going.💛
PRIDE 2020
Pride is the ultimate celebration of truth and liberation for people of the LGBTQ+ community, especially in New York. Unfortunately for many, 2020 removed the element of community and celebration and highlighted the lack of inclusivity Black and brown people. Since parades across the world have been put on hold and been replaced by protests and marched we decided to keep the truth and liberation high by using his voice to demand more. Pulling inspiration from the iconic Lena Waithe 2018 Met look and the ever-evolving pride flag we brought vibrance and color to an otherwise dark world.

I was inspired by Lena Waithe’s 2018 Met Gala look for the “Heavenly Bodies” exhibition. This is the look I wanted to recreate. I enjoyed the overall regalness of the look with the statement of the pride flag. However, I was interested in doing the cape in a reverse.
In reverse, I felt it would give a butterfly effect, representing freedom of self, expression, etc. Thanks goes out to the talented @korebellekkofetche for sharing her gift with me.❤️

The purpose of this photoshoot were very intentional. I wanted to use these photos as a opportunity to continue conversations and further action not just to be images but to continue to make everyone aware.

In New Orleans, the weekend before Fat Tuesday is always the peak of the celebration, with all of the parades, tourists, and most importantly coronation balls. The Zulu Ball is the kick-off for the festivities leading up to the big day. Everyone from the city piles into the Marc Morial Convention Center in downtown New Orleans for a night of black elegance and grandeur. We took inspiration from Eugene Lee Yang, Content Curator, Activist, and ¼ of the Try Guys. He donned an all-pink draped custom suit by Menagerie for the 2019 Unforgettable Gala and we knew we had to put our touch on it.

CINDERFELLA
Halloween is the time (or excuse) to explore our creativity and step into our biggest fantasies. We knew we had to find the perfect character that would allow Will to be creative but most importantly fashionable. He came across the infamous and iconic Billy Porter’s memorable Tony Awards outfit. We sat and thought, “But what if this was blue…” and from there, our minds went wild. As the wheels continued to grind…Cinderfella was born and our dream team had been created.
